Neonatal Nursing is a super-specialized area of nursingpractice. Emerging challenges in neonatal care call for expert, competent and innovative nursing practice towards better neonatal survival.

The Indian Association of Neonatal Nurses is a registered society majorly for Nurses and Nurse Educators working for newborn /teaching neonatal nursing at all levels of health care. The Neonatologist, Obstetricians and Community health specialists can also become life time members of the association. IANN was founded by 23 nurses and nursing faculty during the International Neonatal Conference held at Ashoka Hotel from 15th to 18th September 2007. In the same year, it was registered at New Delhi as a professional body. As on 13/9/19 the association has 1375 life time members from all over the nation. The association helps the nurses to update their knowledge and skills, and collaborate with leaders and other peer members.

One of the major activities undertaken by IANN since its inception is to every year organize continuing nursing education programs by holding Pre-conference workshops and main conference. In addition to this IANN also conduct many zonal activities including the celebration of Breast feeding week, Newborn week, Training of Trainers (TOT) for Essential Newborn care (ENBC), Facility based Neonatal Nursing (FBNN), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Standard Treatment Protocol (STP), Quality Improvement (QI), Simulation and Facility Based Care of Preterm Infant.

Mission of association:

To act as a professional voice to foster excellence in newborn infant care by supporting neonatal nurses and nurse educators/ nursing faculty in advancing their knowledge and skill, promoting research, leadership and association with peer members and leaders of neonatal health care.
